Introduced in version version 2.7, difficulty levels are a new gameplay mechanic that effectively allow players to determine how challenging their game will be. There are a total of four options[1] for players to choose from.


Carcasses

Main article: Carcass

Difficulty will affect the spawn rates of carcasses; while carcass numbers have been reduced even in the easiest setting, the harder the difficulty, the less chance players have of encountering a carcass to scavenge from. The idea is to encourage hunting.

Grizzlies have a small chance of being chased away from a carcass they may be feasting on; with each attack, there is a 20% chance it will give up and flee.


Behaviors

Difficulty means changes to the behavior of prey and predators alike. During the Defend your Pups mission, predators' spawn rates will be determined by the selected difficulty setting.
