Notes

If you purchased WolfQuest: Classic prior to the release of WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition, you will have received the remastered game at no extra cost. Check the storefront you purchased the game through.

Buying either Classic or Anniversary Edition will give you both games at no extra cost. Buying through Itch.io gives you a complimentary Steam key. (This is redeemed through the Steam client and adds the appropriate game(s) to your library at no extra cost if you do not already own them through Steam.)

Please review version-specific support sections and the article-wide disclaimer for important information.

WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition

Main article: versions/Anniversary Edition

WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition, also known as WolfQuest 3 or the 10th Anniversary Edition, is the second premium version of the game currently undergoing active development. It is a complete remake of the original game complete with rewritten-from-the-ground-up overhauls, complete with a new codebase, various graphical improvements, new models, textures, audio, soundtracks, and more. This version expands upon the WolfQuest experience like never before.

Like Classic, this game is distributed through Eduweb-approved storefronts. All transactions help support the project, the development of the game and its development team.

WolfQuest: Classic

Main article: versions/WolfQuest 2.7

WolfQuest 2.7, also officially titled WolfQuest: Classic, was the initial premium version of the game, also available with a free trial to test compatibility of the game on the end user's device. Development ceased in 2017. Windows and Mac users only have the option to pay a modest fee to buy everything, due to the limited technical support vendors offer for in-app purchases. For tablet and mobile users, add-ons may be purchased separately or all together for a modest fee.

This game is distributed through Eduweb-approved storefronts. All transactions help support the project, the development of the game and its development team.

WolfQuest: Legacy

Main article: versions/WolfQuest (Legacy)

WolfQuest 2.5.1, also unofficially titled WolfQuest: Legacy, is the last full, free edition of the game distributed via the official website in the form of version 2.5.1, released during October 2011. It was developed as partnered project between Minnesota Zoo and Eduweb, with the latter developing the game. This release contains the deluxe edition.

Get the Game

This game differs significantly in comparison to its successor. For assistance with this version, refer to the articles under Category:2.5.

This game is only distributed for free from wolfquest.org.

Future Development (Legacy)

This release of WolfQuest contains the full Amethyst Mountain and Slough Creek episodes. In order for it to remain free to download from the website to install and play for free, 2.5.1 is marked as the final full free release of the game, thus it has not received any updates since funding ran out in 2011. Since their return in 2014, Eduweb's development efforts are focused solely on the premium game.

Lexicon (Legacy)

Main article: Multiplayer (2.5)#Lexicon

As of December 3rd 2015[1] lexicon was officially disabled in 2.5.1 and below, rendering it defunct (having been completely replaced in later revisions). This decision was met with some backlash as well as pleas to restore it, however, it will not be making a comeback.

Further to this, during December 2018, a forum upgrade permanently severed the connection between Legacy and the forum user database, meaning it is no longer possible to play multiplayer in any of the obsolete free versions of the game.[2]

Support (Legacy)

Support for this version of the game is no longer offered by Eduweb. Bugs and glitches should not be reported anymore as they will not be fixed, and anything game-breaking may be exploited freely. (See cheats.) As of December 2018, multiplayer is unavailable and cannot be accessed anymore.

Disclaimer

For your own safety, we strongly advise against seeking out pre-2.5.1 builds. Do not ask.[3]
