  • So, today in 2.7.3, a person by the user wolf1girl said their strength was 110%

Are they hacking or lying? They claim an in-game boost given to them by loboLoco lets them have whatever stats they want.

    • Are you sure their wolf wasn't using the Limpy override, which offers a +10% strength boost?

Could be that they edited their data when it used to be possible due to an oversight by the developer that was resolved in the patch that followed; those saves might still work. When I messed around with this (I deleted the files I had edited after this exploit got fixed for fears of bug abuse, so I don't know if this does still work) I did see that it was possible to edit all stats and their bonus values. Beyond that knowledge I can't answer this and don't know if their claim is true/legit.

I can't see the team willingly offering unfair advantages like this to players... so I'm thinking it may be a lie... or maybe they're not telling the whole truth. If that player did modify their own save data files, what they've done is against the rules.

Since there isn't much to go by, I'll PM Dave on the community forum to see what he says.

    • I did eventually see their wolf, and the wolf had no body overrides.

    • Welp, Dave's response cleared this up. The team does not grant boosted stats. If 110 isn't a typo and you're sure she wasn't using the Limpy override, apparently that wolf's strength bonus wouldn't even be a valid value.

I certainly didn't give her special powers. And 110% isn't even possible, since the range is technically 0-1 and 1.1 wouldn't be a valid value.

So now we both know that her claim is false/that she's lying, which also seems to strengthen the idea of this being a case of bug abuse or user-edited files.

This is precisely why it's a bad idea to make claims like this... anyone can contact Dave and if what he says contradicts their word, it probably won't end well.

I noticed when applying a Limpy override, it doesnt let you scroll past 90 strength or 10 speed, to prevent negative or excessive numbers.

  • Hi! I'm a huge fan of WolfQuest, and I have found the wiki! If there is anything I can do to help, please say! I don't know really how to do anything here, so a few tips would be nice. ^^

  • The brown pup image I posted was NOT a lighter version of the gray-brown pup. I know because I took screenshots of both pups to compare them. The pups are similar, but they have notable differences. The brown pup is the puppy version of the timber wolf color. I have multiple save files on my 2.5 WQ version, and I know that the pup sets are different because one is from two timber wolf parents whose first set of pups (with the pelt glitch) I've drowned, while the other is two black wolf parents who still have their gray-brown pelt glitched first set of pups.

If you'd like proof of the differences, I can take more screenshots and compare them side by side once I get back home to my computer.

    • Don't tint/tone work in 2.5...? I seem to remember it being in there but I could be wrong. I've not played that since whenever the last 2.5 files I screencapped were uploaded here, so forgive me if I am mistaken/confused.

When you say you've looked at both on the same computer in your own game... would it be possible for you to provide a screenshot of the pups you're comparing in your own game? I really am not seeing any difference between the two in the first post besides tinting. The only person who could confirm whether or not the textures are different or not based on those shown in the first post are indeed the same or not is Dave yet I don't know how often he checks the activity page...

I really, honestly don't care about being proven wrong if they are different textures. Heck, it'd be nice to put this to rest. The difference must be extremely subtle if it is there, though... believe me, I've read and re-read your posts here multiple times and I have looked long and hard at your two brown images -- the current revision and the previous revision -- in comparison to my greybrown image and I still can't see anything different besides tint in the greybrown image. Ignoring only that, they still look identical.

I'll have to put aside some time to dig through the game files for 2.5.1, see if I am able to find the raw textures used by pups. That's the only other thing I can think of doing.

    • From what I’ve seen, they do work on the player’s wolf, but not on any of the NPC wolves. I think I’ve seen some people complaining about this somewhere too. Yeah, I can get screenshots when I get back to my computer. I’m on an iPad at my mom’s house right now.
