A Pack Rally (or Rally) refers to the noisy vocal activity real wolves partake in to boost morale.[1] In WolfQuest, it serves a similar purpose across all revisions of the game where accessible.

In WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition, Pack Rallies made their return in 1.0.5 with the release of multiplayer.[2] A rally can be initiated during any online server in a session which has a minimum of two player-wolves in attendance. Any less and howling will not initiate a pack rally. Rallies can be performed in any game map, in any mission, at any time provided player-wolves aren't already benefitting from the effects of an active boost.

When any one player-wolf howls, an interface with an orange meter will appear on-screen. This meter will slowly decline over time. To increment it, the majority of attending player-wolves must work together and repeatedly H key howl to raise morale or else the pack rally will fizzle when the meter reaches the leftmost side. The more players there are in the session, the more player-wolves will be required to participate in order to achieve a successful rally.

After achieving a successful pack rally, all participants will receive a temporary stamina boost indicated by the rally-howl icon appended to the respective stat's meter on the wolf badge HUD. This will remain active for approximately five (5) to six (6) minutes. Approximately fifteen (15) seconds before it expires, the rally-howl icon appended to the stamina meter will start blinking, letting players know that this boost is wearing off and it will end soon. If a player's wolf dies during this period of time, all players' wolves will simultaneously lose their active stamina boost.

A new rally cannot be started until the active boost wears off and any attempts to start a new rally with the stamina boost still active will not reset nor renew its timer. Sleeping causes the pack rally to fade. If still active, new players joining the multiplayer server will automatically receive the pack rally boost upon entering without having to start or join a new rally.

In WolfQuest: Classic, pack rallies work similarly to their predecessor in Legacy builds. Available only in multiplayer, a pack rally can be initiated whether alone in a solo server or with other players by howling. Doing so will display a meter with a clockwise timer counting down in the lower-right corner of the screen.

To progress an active rally attempt, all players in attendance must participate in the rally to increment its progress bar before its timer reaches zero (0) by H howling and/or performing emotes — specifically J Wag Tail and K Play Bow. Every pack rally will have two progressive phases: the first is the "initiation" phase, during which time the bar color will be yellow. With enough participation to pass this phase, it progresses into its second and final "trial" phase indicated by the bar color changing to blue.

Achieving a successful rally by reaching 100% on the bar during the second phase will reward everyone in the session with a temporary strength boon which will remain active for three (3) minutes. When its time is up, it will quickly disappear with no prior warning of its oncoming expiration. Sleeping will not reset the boon.

A rally will fizzle out if players fail to fill the bar when the timer runs out.

In Legacy versions of WolfQuest, Pack Rallies are exclusive to multiplayer, a pack rally can be initiated whether alone in a solo server or with other players by howling. Doing so will display a meter with a clockwise timer counting down in the lower-right corner of the screen.

To progress an active rally attempt, all players in attendance must participate in the rally to increment its progress bar before its timer reaches zero (0) by pressing H to howl and/or performing the J Wag Tail and K Play Bow emotes. Every pack rally will have two progressive phases: the first is the "initiation" phase, during which time the bar color will be yellow. With enough participation to pass this phase, it progresses into its second and final "trial" phase indicated by the bar color changing to blue.

Achieving a successful rally by reaching 100% on the bar during the second phase will reward everyone in the session with a temporary strength boon which will remain active for a limited amount of time. When its time is up, it will quickly disappear with no prior warning of its oncoming expiration. Sleeping will not reset the boon.

A rally will fizzle out if players fail to fill the bar when the timer runs out.

Trivia[]

Anniversary Edition Trivia

  • It is not possible to rally in single player. All this will do is reinforce territorial claim in the active hex, and some nearby hexes.
  • In previous versions, rallying would boost the strength stat by +3. This is no longer the case.
    • Boosted stamina can be extremely useful to those with their base attribute at or below 0.
  • Though wolf pups can howl, their howls will not aid in creating pack rallies when in multiplayer
    • When Endless Summer is reached in multiplayer, a pack rally almost always occurs as all player wolves will howl constantly as the pups reach 20lbs.

Classic Trivia

  • Unlike Legacy, players can no longer initiate and complete a solo rally.[citation needed]

  • If the player is in a session on their own, they can also initiate and complete a rally on their own.
