The Original coats are a set of generic gray wolf coats.
- For the outdated Classic set of coats in the Anniversary Edition, see Customization/Coats/Classic#Anniversary Edition.
In WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition, the Original coats set features remastered adaptations based on the 2007 Classic coats textures from earlier revisions. They are higher definition textures made for the updated wolf model as replacements for the old Classic textures. These coats are included free in the base game and can be used by player-wolves. They will also appear on NPC wolves.

Trivia[]
- Gray wolves' coats come in a variety of shades: light grays, medium grays, dark grays, beiges, browns, and occasionally blacks. This set serves all of these colors in one package.
- Unlike their cream-white Arctic relatives, "white" gray wolves are typically just light gray. Whitening fur does naturally occur and is closely associated with aging, so an older individual will gradually appear whiter-grayer the longer it survives, even if it was dark-coated in its younger years.
- Whether whitening will be an added factor as the episodes progress and the pack grows older is unknown.
- Albinism has not yet been observed nor documented in Yellowstone's wolf population, hence it is not portrayed in-game.[1]

Anniversary Edition Trivia
- As of public beta 1.0.8c patch 2, original coats display their respective texture swatch.[2] Prior builds temporarily reused the Classic swatches since the introduction of the Original set in July 2019.
- The samples provided on the Wiki prior to this change were mock-ups sampled from each coat's extracted back texture. (Far from perfect as we do not know the developer's process for making coat swatches!)
- The new set was made to replace the old original set of coats in commemoration of the tenth anniversary.
- The developer has stated that they had planned to cease use of the original original coats, but these plans changed. The outdated set was renamed to Classic coats and still exists at the bottom of the coats interface. That set is unused by NPC wolves.
